The Rio Mopan Lodge is located on the river Mopan in a private reserve in Melchor de Mencos, the entrance 50 meters from the Guatemalan Immigration Office at the Guatemala/Belize border. Our lodge is the perfect place to start your jungle expedition while enjoying the beauty of the Rio Mopan. The area around Melchor de Mencos has much to offer with some of the most natural geographic beauty of the region. To the south is the Rio Mopan and Rio Chiquibul and to the north the Rio Holmul. The whole area is full of Mayan ruins, most of them unexplored and hardly known. Many of the recent discoveries in Mayan archeology have been made in our area. Here you will have the opportunity to be part of the cutting edge of excavation into the magic world of the Mayas and all the challenging beauties of the jungle,  or you can relax in our garden. Within five minutes paddling on the river  you are alone in the jungle, within 20 minutes you can experience whitewater rafting, canoeing or tubing.We offer Mediteranien cooking.
